〈616〉 Bulk Density and Tapped Density of Powders

The bulk density of a powder is the ratio of the mass of a powder sample to its volume, including the contribution of the interparticulate void volume. Hence, the bulk density depends on the material density and the packing arrangement in the powder bed. Bulk density is commonly expressed in grams per milliliter (1 g/mL = 1 g/cm3 = 1000 kg/m3) .
