BRIEFING

 Zinc Chloride. This proposal is based on the version of the monograph official as of June 1, 2024. It is proposed to revise the monograph with the following changes:

  1. Revise the Definition to align with the updated acceptance criteria for the Assay.

  2. In the test for Assay, tighten the upper limit of the acceptance criteria to be consistent with FDA approved application.

  3. Update the test procedure and replace the acceptance criterion for the Limit of Ammonium Salts to avoid safety and compliance issues related to organoleptic tests.

  4. Add "nonmetallic" containers in the Packaging and Storage section to be consistent with the European Pharmacopoeia monograph.

 Additionally, minor editorial changes have been made to update the monograph to current USP style.
