BRIEFING

 Xanthan Gum. This proposal is based on the version of the monograph official as of June 1, 2023. On the basis of the comments received, it is proposed to replace the current packed column gas chromatographic procedure with a validated capillary GC headspace method for the Limit of Isopropyl Alcohol test. The proposed procedure is based on analyses using an Agilent GC column with G27 phase. The typical retention time for isopropyl alcohol is about 2.15 min.

 Additionally, minor editorial changes have been made to update the monograph to current USP style.
