DEFINITION

Sennosides consists of a partially purified natural complex of anthraquinone glucosides, which are isolated as calcium salts from senna leaflets and/or senna pods [Senna alexandrina Mill. (syn. Cassia acutifolia Delile or C. angustifolia Vahl) (Family Fabaceae)]. It contains NLT 60.0% of the sum of sennosides A and B on the dried basis.
