 Spearmint Oil. Because there is no existing NF monograph for this excipient, a new monograph based on the corresponding FCC monograph and validated methods of analysis is proposed. The proposed gas chromatographic procedure used in the Identity by Major Aroma Substances, Assay, and Content of Aroma Substances tests is based on the analyses performed with the Agilent/J&W Scientific brand of DB-Wax column with phase G16. The typical retention times for limonene, cineole, menthone, isomenthone, menthyl acetate, l-menthol, pulegone, and l-carvone are about 2.1, 2.2, 3.8, 4.0, 4.4, 5.0, 5.1, and 5.7 min, respectively.
