DEFINITION

Milk Thistle consists of the dried ripe fruit of Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn. (Family Asteraceae) with the pappus removed. It contains NLT 2.0% of silymarin, calculated as silybin (C25H22O10), on the dried basis.
