INTRODUCTION
Oral delivery is the most common route of administration for drug products. Through oral delivery, both systemic action and local action in the oral cavity or gastrointestinal tract can be achieved. Oral drug products fall primarily into two categories: solids and liquids. Solid oral dosage forms include but are not limited to capsules, tablets, granules, and powders. Liquid oral dosage forms include but are not limited to solutions, suspensions, and emulsions. The definition and description of these dosage forms and brief information about their compositions and manufacturing processes can be found in Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms 〈1151〉.
