DEFINITION

Emetine Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride of an alkaloid obtained from Ipecac, or prepared by methylation of cephaeline, or prepared synthetically. It contains NLT 98.0% and NMT 101.5% of emetine hydrochloride (C₂₉H₄₀N₂O₄·2HCl), calculated on the anhydrous basis.
