〈662〉 Metallic Packaging Systems and Components

1. INTRODUCTION

Packaging systems for pharmaceutical products can be constructed from metallic components. The use of well-characterized components or systems is a primary means of ensuring suitability for its intended use. Components are characterized so that their properties and characteristics can be matched to the performance requirements of the packaging system. For the purposes of this chapter, a metallic component or system is well-characterized for its intended use if the components or systems have been subjected to functional and chemical analysis and the test results meet relevant and defined acceptance criteria.
