Dandelion Root Powder. A new USP monograph for this dietary ingredient is being proposed. Validation data for the liquid chromatographic procedure in the test for Content of Phenolic Acids were obtained using the Restek Pinnacle DB Biphenyl brand of column with L11 packing. The typical retention times for caftaric acid, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeoylmalic acid, chicoric acid, isochlorogenic acid B, isochlorogenic acid A, and isochlorogenic acid C, at UV 327 nm, are 5.2, 6.8, 7.3, 9.1, 11.5, 12.5, 12.9, and 14.2 min, respectively; for 11β,13-dihydrotaraxinic acid β-D-glucopyranosyl ester and taraxinic acid β-D-glucopyranosyl ester, at UV 254 nm, are 16.7 and 17.3 min, respectively.
