DEFINITION

Southern Schisandra Fruit Powder consists of the dried ripe fruit of Schisandra sphenanthera Rehder & E.H.Wilson (Fam. Schisandraceae), reduced to a fine powder. It contains NLT 1.0% of lignans calculated as the sum of schisantherin A (C₃₀H₃₂O₉), schisantherin B (C₂₈H₃₄O₉), schisantherin C (C₂₈H₃₄O₉), and deoxyschisandrin (also known as schisandrin A; C₂₄H₃₂O₆) on the anhydrous basis.
