BRIEFING
〈74〉 Solid Phase Cytometry-Based Rapid Microbiological Methods for the Detection of Contamination in Clear Aqueous Solutions. This new chapter proposal is based on the version published in PF 48(5) as "Solid Phase Cytometry-Based Rapid Microbial Methods for the Detection of Contamination in Short Shelf-Life Products". The previous proposal has been canceled and is being replaced by this updated version, which includes the following revisions by the Microbiology Expert Committee:
-
Update the title to “Solid Phase Cytometry-Based Rapid Microbiological Methods for the Detection of Contamination in Clear Aqueous Solutions”.
-
Redefine the scope of the chapter to clear aqueous solutions, products for which water is used as the main matrix, which are filterable and have a low level of inherent fluorescent background., e.g., water, ophthalmic solutions, saline solutions, etc. The scope of this chapter is based on the actual data reviewed by USP and for which there is a confidence on an appropriate utilization of the method and data analysis. USP 〈74〉 is a living chapter that may be amended. The scope may be widened once new data are reviewed and considered relevant.
