 Aronia melanocarpa Fruit Aqueous Dry Extract. A new USP monograph for this dietary ingredient is being proposed.

1. The liquid chromatographic procedure in Identification C is based on analyses performed using the YMC Pack ODS-AQ brand of column with L1 packing. The typical retention times for tartaric acid, quinic acid, malic acid, shikimic acid, citric acid, and fumaric acid are about 2.1, 2.2, 2.9, 3.1, 5.7, and 6.6 min, respectively.

2. The liquid chromatographic procedure in the test for Content of Anthocyanosides was obtained with the Shimadzu Shim-pack Scepter C18-120 brand of column with L1 packing. The typical retention times for neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, cyanidin-3-O-galactoside, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside, cyanidin-3-O- arabinoside, and cyanidin-3-O-xyloside are about 1.3, 2.3, 3.0, 3.6, 4.3, and 5.7 min, respectively.
