European Elder Berry Powder is prepared from the ripened fruits of Sambucus nigra L. (Fam. Viburnaceae) after freeze-drying and pulverization. It contains NLT 1.0% of total anthocyanosides calculated as the sum of the chloride salts of cyanidin-3-O-sambubioside-5-O-glucoside, cyanidin-3,5-di-O-glucoside, cyanidin-3-O-sambubioside, and cyanidin-3-O-glucoside on the dried basis. The content ratio of malic acid to citric acid is NLT 0.10, and the content ratio of malic acid to shikimic acid is NLT 10. It contains no added substances.
