Phosphatidylserine
Soy phosphatidylserine;
Sunflower phosphatidylserine [84776-79-4] [1446756-47-3]

BRIEFING

Phosphatidylserine. A new USP monograph for this dietary ingredient is being proposed. The procedure used in Identification A and the test for the Content of Total Phospholipids is based on the 31P NMR method using triphenyl phosphate as an internal calibrant. The typical major phospholipids determined are phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidic acid, with chemical shift values observed at –0.89, –0.34, and 1.13 ppm, respectively. The HPTLC procedure used in the Limit of Free Fatty Acids and Triglycerides test is based on analyses performed with HPTLC silica gel 60 F254 plates with 2–10 µm particle size. The typical RF values observed for oleic acid and triolein are 0.30 and 0.72, respectively.
