DEFINITION

Horse Chestnut consists of the dried seeds of Aesculus hippocastanum L. (Fam. Hippocastanaceae) harvested in the fall. It contains NLT 3.0% of triterpene glycosides, calculated on the dried basis as escin (C55H86O24).
