DEFINITION

White Peony Root Dry Extract is prepared by extraction with hydroalcoholic mixtures from White Peony Root, which consists of the peeled, boiled, and sun-dried roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. (Family Paeoniaceae), collected in summer or autumn. It contains NLT 80% and NMT 120% of the labeled amount of paeoniflorin (C₂₃H₂₈O₁₁) and NLT 90% and NMT 110% of the labeled amount of total benzoyl monoterpenoid glycosides calculated as the sum of albiflorin (C₂₃H₂₈O₁₁), paeoniflorin, and benzoylpaeoniflorin (C₃₀H₃₂O₁₂), all on the dried basis. It may contain suitable added substances as carriers.
