Valerian Root Powder Capsules contain finely powdered dried subterranean parts of Valeriana officinalis L. (Fam. Caprifoliaceae, formerly Valerianaceae) including rhizome, root, and stolon. They contain NLT 0.04% of valerenic acid (C₁₅H₂₂O₂) and NLT 0.1% of total valerenic acids, calculated as the sum of hydroxyvalerenic acid (C₁₅H₂₂O₃), acetoxyvalerenic acid (C₁₇H₂₄O₄) and valerenic acid (C₁₅H₂₂O₂), from the labeled amount of valerian root powder.
