High Gamma-Linolenic Safflower Oil
GLA Safflower Oil 78YC2MAX4Ogamolenic acid

DESCRIPTION

High Gamma-Linolenic Safflower Oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant known as GLA safflower. GLA safflower is a variety of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L., cv. Centennial) that has been genetically engineered to contain high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in the seed. The oil is extracted from the seeds using mechanical expression combined with solvent extraction. High Gamma-Linolenic Safflower Oil is refined, bleached, and deodorized to substantially remove free fatty acids, phospholipids, color, odor and flavor components, and other non-oil material. It is characterized by a high level of gamma-linolenic acid (C18:3 n-6), which may be standardized by addition of other food-grade oils. Suitable antioxidants may be added.
