Plant Stanol Esters
DESCRIPTION
Plant Stanol Esters occur as a fat-like substance with a waxy texture having similar chemical and physical properties to edible fats. They are produced from the esterification of plant stanols with fatty acids from rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, soybean oil, and their blends. They contain about 58% of plant stanols, about 40% of fatty acids, and residual amounts of unesterified sitosterol and unesterified campesterol. They are insoluble in water and soluble in hexane, isooctane, and 2-propanol.
