Lactotransferrin Formula wt: 77 kDa (polypeptide form)
Formula wt: 82-87 kDa (glycosylated form)
[936541-36-5]

DESCRIPTION

Lactoferrin from Bovine (Bos taurus) Milk is an iron-binding globular glycoprotein that occurs as a pink or light pinkish powder. It consists of a single polypeptide chain of 689 amino acids. It is the substance obtained by the isolation and purification from cheese whey and bovine skim milk. The cheese whey or bovine skim milk is filtered to remove the insoluble material, microbes, and fat before passing it through an ion exchange column. The lactoferrin bound to the column is eluted with buffer solution and desalted by ultrafiltration. After further concentration, lactoferrin is dried into a powder by spray drying or freeze drying.
