DESCRIPTION

Sorbitan Tristearate occurs as light cream to tan beads or flakes or a hard, waxy solid. It is a mixture of the partial esters of sorbitol and its mono- and dianhydrides with edible stearic acid. It contains stearic acid esterified with polyols derived from sorbitol. Sorbitan Tristearate is slightly soluble in toluene, ether, carbon tetrachloride, and ethyl acetate and is dispersible in petroleum ether, mineral oil, vegetable oils, acetone, and dioxane. It is insoluble in water, methanol, and ethanol.
