DESCRIPTION
Cinnamon Leaf Oil occurs as a light to dark brown liquid with a spicy cinnamon–clove odor and taste. It is the volatile oil obtained by steam distillation from the leaves and twigs of the true cinnamon shrub, Cinnamomum zeylanicum Nees (Fam. Lauraceae). The commercial oils, according to the geographical origin, are designated as Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Ceylon, or Cinnamon Leaf Oil, Seychelles, and the two types differ in physical and chemical properties. Cinnamon Leaf Oil is soluble in most fixed oils and in propylene glycol. It is soluble, with cloudiness, in mineral oil, but is insoluble in glycerin.
