513 [7664-93-9] O40UQP6WCF sulfuric acid
DESCRIPTION
Sulfuric Acid occurs as a clear, colorless or slightly brown, oily liquid. It is very caustic and corrosive. It is miscible with water and with alcohol with the generation of much heat and contraction in volume. Sulfuric Acid should be added cautiously to the diluent when mixed with other liquids. Some commercially available concentrations of Sulfuric Acid are expressed in degrees Baumé (°Bé) and others (above 93.0%) as a percentage of H2SO4. The more common concentrations are 60 °Bé and 66 °Bé, equivalent to 77.67% and 93.19% of H2SO4, respectively, and 98.0% of H2SO4. Its specific gravity varies with the concentration of H2SO4 (see Sulfuric Acid Table, Appendix IIC).
