DESCRIPTION

Palmitic Acid occurs as a hard, white or faintly yellow, somewhat glossy crystalline solid, or as a white or pale yellow powder. It is a mixture of solid organic acids obtained from fats consisting chiefly of Palmitic Acid (C₁₆H₃₂O₂) with varying amounts of stearic acid (C₁₆H₃₆O₂). Palmitic Acid is practically insoluble in water. It is soluble in alcohol, in ether, and in chloroform.
